Industrial estadounidense. Nieto del fundador de
Procter & Gamble Co., donde empezó a trabajar en 1883. Presidió la empresa entre 1907 y 1930, tiempo en que las ventas aumentaron de US$20 millones a más de US$200 millones. Durante su gestión, la empresa fue pionera en materia de relaciones laborales. En 1887 introdujo un plan de participación en las utilidades para sus empleados y en 1920 les garantizó 48 semanas de trabajo al año. Además, implementó un plan de pensiones de invalidez, un plan de seguro de vida, y estableció la representación de los empleados en el directorio de la sociedad.
